Cancun, Q.R. — Two men remain in hospital after being shot while inside a Cancun barbershop. Witnesses reported armed men entering the shop Tuesday evening and opening fire against two men inside.
One of the men is reported to be an employee and the other a customer. It is unknown who the target of the attack was. One male was shot in the abdomen and the other was shot in a leg.
The shootings took place around 8:00 p.m. inside a barbershop along Mar Báltico Street in SM 217. Witnesses called for emergency assistance. They also hailed a taxi driver to transport the two shot men to hospital while they waited for police.
The armed men fled on a motorcycle before authorities arrived. Municipal officers were at the scene collecting spent shell casings. There is media speculation that the barbershop operated as a front for a Colombian money lending business. Cancun authorities have not commented on the shooting.
