Armed man charged for holding two captive and firing at responding police

Cancun, Q.R. — A man taken into custody for holding two people captive and firing shots at police officers has been charged with attempted murder. Authorities say Jorge “N” is facing several charges of attempted murder after threatening to kill his wife and son and then firing his weapon at responding police.

On June 4, police were made aware of a hostage situation inside a Cancun hotel when a woman began screaming for help from the third floor balcony. She was being held captive with her young son by her armed husband.

Members of the Immediate Reaction and Support Force (FRAI) of the Quintana Roo FGE were sent in response to reports of shots fired and a woman screaming for help from the balcony.

When they arrived, the armed husband took aim at police. Officers repelled the attack, wounding the armed man. Officers entered the room locating the wounded man in possession of two long guns and a handgun.
