Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun police were at the scene of a deadly daylight shooting Sunday that left one man dead. The body of the yet-to-be identified victim was found laying in the middle of a side street in central Cancun.
City officers responding to the 1:40 p.m. citizen reports of gunfire arrived to find the man laying face down next to a busy street in SM 26. He had been shot numerous times. Investigators cordoned off a section of Sac Xib Street where the body was located.
According to preliminary information, the man was approached by a lone gunman who shot him repeatedly at close range before fleeing, leaving the man for dead. Although an ambulance was called, paramedics could not do anything other than pronounce his death.
The man is reported to have been around 35 years of age. Numerous shell casings were collected from the scene.
