Andrés Quintana Roo Taxi Union says drivers not permitted to charge more during holidays

Cancun, Q.R. — Increased taxi fare rates for the upcoming holidays will not be permitted says head of the Andrés Quintana Roo Taxi Drivers Union. According to Erasmo Abelar Cámara, Secretary General of the Andrés Quintana Roo Taxi Drivers Union, it is false information that an increase in rates has been authorized for the public holidays in Cancun.

Abelar Cámara says that for the Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations (December 24 and 31), the Andrés Quintana Roo Taxi Drivers Union is prohibited from charging double rates, which in the past, has been practised.

He says the fares have been established in the official tabulator which is regulated by the Mobility Institute in the municipality of Benito Juárez. Passengers who have been over charged can make a complaint through TaxiQuejas at 998 293 6803.
