An ignored stop sign leaves 6 injured in Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — Several people were left with injuries after a passenger transport van and a taxi collided in Cancun.

The van, which is part of the TTE transport service, crashed into a taxi, both of which, belong to the Andrés Quintana Roo taxi union. The crash happened in the Paseos del Mar subdivision in Region 251 of the city.

The taxi driver, 20-year-old Denis Antonio UR, allegedly failed to respect the stop sign when crossing an intersection. That failure to stop caused him to collide with the oncoming TTE passenger van, which was driven by 28-year-old Juan Carlos S.G.

The impact from them hitting left the taxi projected against a pole in the center ridge where it came to a stop. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage.

Police officers, firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene. Paramedics transferred six injured passengers to area hospitals.
