Cancun, Q.R. — President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) recognized the arrival of tourism in Cancun during 2022 and anticipates a continuation of growth into the new year.
On Monday, AMLO celebrated the destination for breaking old historic figures for the arrival of flights and tourists.
“All records were broken last year,” he said Monday morning, adding that “30 million visitors arrived in Cancun, more than 700 daily flights, something never before registered,” he pointed out during his morning press conference.
It was during the last days of December that the Cancun International Airport registered its 30th million passenger by a woman from Indianapolis.
On Monday, AMLO said “the arrival of tourists will continue to grow this 2023, hence the importance of Maya Train.”
Governor Mara Lezama acknowledged the President’s message from Monday. “Thanks to everyone’s efforts, all records were broken last year, 30 million visitors arrived in Cancun, more than 700 daily flights, something never recorded, that’s why the importance of the Maya Train,” said our president.
The first test run for the train is scheduled between Merida and Cancun for July of this year.
