Cancun, Q.R. — An American woman who was arrested at Cancun International for entering the country with handguns has been charged. The Public Ministry of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) in Quintana Roo has officially charged Carter E for entering Mexico with firearms.
She was arrested earlier this week inside the airport after federal officials located two handguns and loaded magazines inside her luggage. She was taken into custody by elements of the National Guard after they located a 9 mm and a 40 caliber handgun inside her bags.
Her trial date has been set for next month. A judge has ordered her to remain in preventative detention in Centro de Retención Municipal de Cancun (Cereso) until then.
