Cancun, Q.R. — An American man remains in jail after being arrested in central Cancun for drug possession. On Friday, Cancun police said U.S. citizen Michael “N” was taken into custody and has been connected to the theft of bicycles and electric scooters.
“Michael “N”, a U.S. citizen, was arrested for alleged involvement in drug-related offenses. The man is linked to the theft of bicycles and electric scooters,” they said.

According to police, Michael “N” was seen handling bags of what appeared to be drugs when he was approached by police. During an inspection, arresting officers located 27 bags of marijuana.
“Members of the Orion Group of the Secretariat of Citizen Security, in coordination with the Secretariat of National Defense and National Guard, noticed a man standing in front of a scooter in the parking lot of a business.
“This individual was handling several small, clear plastic bags containing a green, leafy substance resembling marijuana,” they reported.
The American man was arrested from the parking lot of GME Money Exchange on Cobá Avenue in Superblock 3 of central Cancun.
“He was found in possession of an eco-friendly cloth bag, 27 small, clear Ziploc-type plastic bags containing a green, dried herb resembling marijuana, a cell phone, and a black and gray Ninebot by Segway electric scooter.”
Police say he is facing drug related charges.
