American arrested in Cancun for alleged murder of his parents

Cancun, Q.R. — The State Attorney General of Quintana Roo reports that Ministerial Police officers succeeded in capturing American Dylan Bennett, who was wanted by U.S. authorities for the alleged murder of his parents.

Police in Cancun arrested the 22-year-old son of former NFL lineman, Barry Bennett. He was wanted by authorities in Minnesota for the August 19th death of his parents. His mother Carol, who would have been 64 Thursday and his 63-year-old father Barry Bennett who played 11 seasons for the NFL, were found shot to death at their home Wednesday in the small town of Long Prairie.

In a press release, la Fiscalía General del Estado de Quintana Roo reports Dylan Bennett was taken into custody Saturday by Mexican authorities in Cancun when he was seen walking down the boulevard after a citizen reported him for aggressive behavior.

Responding to the report, police found the man and asked for his identification. Upon learning he was wanted by U.S. authorities, Bennett was taken into custody on Boulevard Kukulkan in the Cancun Hotel Zone.

In a statement, the Todd County Sheriff’s Office said “The FBI is taking him into custody now and will transport him to Minnesota in the coming days.” According to CNN, a sheriff’s investigator in Todd County has filed a complaint in district court accusing Bennett of two counts of second-degree murder without premeditation.
