Tulum, Q.R. — Inspectors from Civil Protection have suspended the construction of a Aldea Zama building for allegedly breaching security measures.
Municipal officials made an inspection of the site around noon Friday in response to a citizen complaint that claimed parts of the building had fallen off. After a review of the building, municipal inspectors did determine the building unsafe and proceeded to suspend construction.
Lucio Salvador Arguea of Protección Civil confirmed the reason for the suspension, adding that it was deemed necessary to evict all workers due to a risk the building could collapse due to a structurally weak foundation.
Municipal police of Tulum were on site to explain the situation to workers, informing them of the formal suspension of the construction project.
Officials from the Dirección de Desarrollo Urbano of Tulum also arrived on site to verify permits.
