Aguakan repairs second Cancun water line break made by excavation company

Cancun, Q.R. — An emergency water repair was made by Aguakan Monday after a 20-inche line was punctured. The line was punctured by the prongs of a backhoe working construction.

Thousands of gallons of water quickly flooded the area. The line break was the second in a week caused by the same company. The line break affected water in numerous areas of Cancun Monday afternoon.

In a social media post immediately after the puncture, Aguakan reported “Our brigades are working to solve the enormous leak caused by the ICA company as soon as possible. We remind you that the water supply had to be temporarily suspended to carry out these tasks.”

The company spent several hours digging up the old line and replacing the punctured section. While doing so, the most affected area was the Cancun Hotel Zone, with a cut water supply.

It is the second time the same company has reptured a water line while performing excavation work. On September 19, one of their excavation machines hit a water line that also caused a significant leak. In that instance, Augakan had to cut water to a part of Cancun while the line was replaced.

On Monday evening, Aguakan posted “We have successfully completed the repair of the leak in the 20″ line caused by the construction company ICA. We thank our valuable collaborators for their hard work and effort in completing these tasks in record time.”
