Cancun, Q.R. — An ADO bus traveling the Mérida-Cancun highway suffered an attempted robbery, however, the bus operator was able to get away.
The incident occurred during the middle of the night while the bus was in motion. The driver of the bus reported large rocks being thrown at the bus windows as it traveled down the highway. When the bus operator realized what was happening, he accelerated and was able to successfully leave the area.
The attempted assault took place against an ADO that had departed the city of Mérida at 1:00 a.m. The bus driver said that he was about three hours into the drive when the attempted assault occurred.
Although the bus did arrive safely in Cancun, it suffered a broken side window. There were no reports of injuries to the driver or passengers.
