Additional power circuits added to keep up with double digit growth of Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) installed two overhead circuits to prevent overloading of underground lines. The additional circuits were installed over the weekend in areas known for constant blackouts.

Cancun Mayor Ana Paty Peralta supervised the work carried out by CFE personnel. The installation of two more circuits was due to the constant complaints made by the citizens about failures in the electricity in various neighborhoods of the city.

Accompanied by the manager of the Peninsular Division of CFE Distribution, Héctor Aguilar Valenzuela, Mayor Peralta said in view of the electrical interruptions, particularly in Polígono Sur, communication has been maintained with CFE to resolve the problem.

Peralta said the weekend project was intended to strengthen the electrical infrastructure, installing two more overhead circuits to prevent overloading of underground lines that cause blackouts in the area.

Héctor Aguilar Valenzuela explained that demand has increased and this region of the country is growing at double digits, so the exponential growth of the city demands the installation of new infrastructure to supply the power that is needed.

Therefore, “two electrical circuits were added to ensure the full flow of electricity for the southern polygon of the city,” he said.
