Activists claiming state corruption protest in Cancun Hotel Zone

Cancun, Q.R. — Several dozen angry area residents protested with banners in the Cancun Hotel Zone Wednesday demanding resignations. The angry protesters blocked traffic at Kilometer 11.5, chanting for the dismissals of State Prosecutor Óscar Montes de Oca and Anti-corruption Prosecutor, Rosaura Villanueva Arzápalo.

Among the protesters were the families of missing persons who, with posters, claimed corruption inside the state’s FGE. Those protesting claimed omissions and inefficiencies by the prosecuting offices.

The protestors identified themselves as activists from the Colectivos Quintanarroenses, Verdad, Memoria y Justicia and Quintana Roo, Hasta Encontrarles, who, among other grievances, were protesting against corruption and impunity in the state.
