Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun Transit attended the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident Thursday. The city residents died after being hit by a public combi. The man riding the motorcycle was killed after being struck by a State Land Transport (TTE) van on José López Portillo Avenue.
According to witnesses, the public transport vehicle was traveling at excessive speed and ran a red light, causing the fatal intersection accident.
Paramedics were called to the 5:15 p.m. accident but only pronounced the driver dead at the scene. He was found laying on the avenue several meters in front of the combi. His motorcycle was located lodged under the front of the van.
Forensic Medical Service were requested to remove the body. The public transport driver was arrested from the scene at the intersection of José López Portillo and Comalcalco Avenues.
