Cancun, Q.R. — A total of 52 national and international companies are interested in participating in the tender for Section 5 of the Maya Train project, which includes the Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen.
Due to the overwhelming interest, the National Tourism Promotion Fund (Fonatur) has postponed their decision announcement until February 25, after it was scheduled for February 10.
The foregoing was announced by the legal director of the agency, Alejandro Varela, who recognized the great interest of the consortiums in wanting to invest in the project.
“The ruling of Section 5 North was postponed because there were too many companies. I recognize that there is great enthusiasm from the consortia, and so we continue to evaluate the technical and economic proposals that were presented to us to choose the best option. We will publish the winning consortium in the coming weeks,” he explained.
The Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen section of the Maya Train is estimated to be one of the highest in demand for transport.
