43 Cancun youths spend weekend in jail after mass fight

Cancun, Q.R. —  The outbreak of a large-scale fight between a group of youths saw 43 hauled to city jail. The mass arrests happened Saturday night in Parque de las Palapas in central Cancun.

According to preliminary information, the fight began near the Tajamar boardwalk but continued and escalated into a large group altercation at Parque de las Palapas. Police were notified of the group fight.

According to information from the Municipal Secretary of Public Security, municipal agents arrived on Margaritas Street where they saw more than 150 youths fighting and vandalizing property.

The group began to disperse at the realization police had been called. Agents managed to secure a total of 43 youths who spent the weekend in the city’s Municipal Retention Center (El Torito) for administrative offenses.
