Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police in the state of Yucatan arrested a man Wednesday they say was wanted in Quintana Roo. In a statement, SSP Yucatan reported that Saúl “N” was picked up on an outstanding warrant for a 2014 murder.
The fugitive, who had been on the run more than a decade, was located by authorities Wednesday night. He has been wanted for the 2014 death of a man who was shot on a Playa del Carmen highway.
Saúl “N”, a mechanic, has since been returned to the state of Quintana Roo to face charges of aggravated homicide.
“Investigative agents from the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), in coordination with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and in collaboration with the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office and federal forces, executed an arrest warrant against Saúl “N”, alias “Tipo”, a native of Quintana Roo,” the SSP Yucatan said in an official statement.

“The suspect is the likely perpetrator of an aggravated homicide that occurred in 2014. The incident took place at a ranch located near the highway on the Mérida-Playa del Carmen bypass, when the victim, A. J. M. C., 21 years old, arrived at the location to collect a debt.
“After an argument and failing to reach an agreement, Saúl “N” fired a gun, killing him; he then fled the scene. The suspect, a mechanic by trade, was placed at the disposal of the Quintana Roo State Judge of Control to face the corresponding legal proceedings.”
