Young driver flips double semi on Tulum highway

Tulum, Q.R. — A large semi that flipped along the Tulum highway has left only a shaken driver and material damage. The accident was reported Monday around 6:30 a.m. along a stretch of Tulum-Cobá state highway when the driver of a double-long trailer lost control and overturned.

The driver of the unit, 24-year-old Geovani de Jesús Aguilar, was not seriously injured when his unit left the roadway and flipped. Municipal Police, firemen, Civil Protection and paramedics did arrive to tend to the scene. De Jesús Aguilar was taken to hospital.

Reports say the trailer was empty, carrying only pallets when the accident happened. Driver error has been unofficially named as the cause of the accident as investigations continue.
