Tulum, Q.R. — Municipal authorities are continuing their search for the vehicle alleged responsible for the death of a woman. The woman was killed Sunday morning when she was struck by a heavy truck while driving her motorcycle.
Emergency personnel were sent to the site of the federal highway accident a few kilometers from the town of Tulum.
Others involved in the accident reported watching as the motorcycle was hit by the truck then thrown into their tricycle as they rode along the road. The female driver was then dragged by the truck off her motorcycle and left laying on the road more than 10 meters meters from her bike.
The driver of the heavy truck alleged responsible for hitting the motorcycle and dragging the woman did not stop.
The female driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. She has not been named by police.
The two men traveling on the tricycle were not seriously injured. The impact from the motorcycle forced them into the bush. Both men were treated at the scene for multiple contusions.
Traffic was rerouted around the scene of the accident for more than an hour Sunday while emergency personnel and police remained at the site. Police are continuing their search for the truck.
