Cancun, Q.R. — A man accused of killing another in SM 249 of Cancun was arrested Wednesday. Iván “N”, 28, was taken into custody after residents reported hearing gun shots.

Police in Cancun said that the suspect was located during a morning search operation using the city’s C5 cameras. In response to residential reports of gun fire, police arrived at the address in the Cielo Nuevo subdivision to find a deceased male.
Residents were able to provide police with a description of the man they said shot him. During a search operation, the suspect was located and apprehended. During his arrest, police found a shoulder bag containing a 9mm caliber short firearm with a magazine loaded with 12 live cartridges.
“Security authorities arrest suspect involved in violent incident in SM 249,” police reported. “The Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Traffic of Benito Juárez, in coordination with state authorities, successfully apprehended a male individual allegedly connected to the gunfire reported Wednesday morning in Supermanzana 249, where one person lost their life.
“The swift response of the officers, supported by the C5 video surveillance system and radio communication, allowed them to locate and apprehend the individual.
“The detainee was placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office, where his legal status will be determined. Information is still developing,” Policía de Cancún reported in a briefing.
