Tulum, Q.R. — A two-vehicle accident along the Tulum-Coba section of highway has left one dead and five injured. The accident happened Friday night between the towns of Manuel Antonio Ay and Francisco Uh May.
According to preliminary data, the accident occurred shortly after 8:00 p.m. when the driver of a Nissan car invaded the oncoming lane in an attempt to pass a pickup truck. Due to the high rate of speed, both vehicles were destroyed.
Police and medical rescue personnel arrived to find bodies scattered along the roadway. One person reportedly died at the scene, while the others were taken to hospital.
