Two taken down in Tulum for drug, weapons offences

Tulum, Q.R. — Police in Tulum have arrested two men after they were found in posession of weapons and drugs.

In a press release from la Fiscalía General del Estado de Quintana Roo, Policía Ministerial noticed the pair with a suitcase during a routine review. When police began to approach, the pair attempted to flee. Police began a chase, which lead to their capture.

Upon review of the suitcase, Policía Ministerial reported finding two short weapons, another of high power and cartridges in addition to several sachets that contained crack, cocaine and marijuana. They say the firearms the pair were found carrying are for exclusive use of the Army.

Francisco M and Joel A were captured on the Cancun-Tulum federal highway and subsequently made available to the competent authority.

La Fiscalía General del Estado de Quintana Roo says according to their investigation, Francisco M already has a criminal record for drugs and homicide, among others.
