Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — On Tuesday, police seized two vehicles reported as stolen within hours of each other. The cars were located when being driven through highway filters in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco.
Late Tuesday morning, elements with the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) located the first stolen vehicle on the Chetumal – Bacalar Federal Highway in Othón P. Blanco.
The vehicle was recovered at a Security Control Module filter that was set up at kilometer 12.5 of the Chetumal – Bacalar Federal Highway.
“Police elements detected a red Mitsubishi vehicle with URA839L license plates from the state of Quintana Roo matched the characteristics of a unit reported stolen in the municipality of Solidaridad,” the SSC reported.
When stopping the car, authorities proceeded to inform the driver of the inspection. “With the support of technology, video surveillance cameras from the C5 Complex and specialized equipment, police confirmed that the data coincided with the reported stolen unit.”
The driver of the stolen vehicle was detained at the filter and has since been delivered to the State Attorney General’s Office for the corresponding investigations.
Less than two hours later, elements of the SSC of Quintana Roo recovered a second stolen vehicle in the same highway filter. The second vehicle, also a car, came back with a stolen vehicle report from the municipality of Othón P. Blanco.
“The gray Nissan brand vehicle with C67AXL license plates from the State of Mexico matched the characteristics of a unit reported stolen,” they said. That driver was also arrested at the filter and has since been delivered to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) for the corresponding investigations.
