Tulum, Q.R. — Two people died Saturday after being shot near a Tulum cenote. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The other died on the way to hospital.
Emergency services received a call about the shooting shortly after 8:00 p.m. Saturday. Details surrounding the shooting are thin since local authorities have not commented publicly.
Paramedics confirmed the person reported dead at the scene was male. The second person, also identified as a man, was dead upon arrival at a Tulum hospital after being transferred by ambulance.
The area was cordoned off by elements of the National Guard and the Municipal Preventive Police. Personnel from Forensic Services arrived to remove the body.
Neither of the deceased have been identified by name or age, however, according to early information, the second person, the man who died on route to hospital, is reported to have been involved in the local drug trade.
