Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — It was around noon when two vehicles collided along the Cancun-Playa del Carmen highway with one ending up in the meridian.
The driver of a company vehicle was allegedly speeding when he lost control, hit a compact car and smashed into a light pole and trees before finally coming to a stop in the middle of the road. The accident happened at kilometer 310 of the Cancun-Playa del Carmen highway.
While the driver of the compact car, who was the sole occupant, was reportedly not injured, the driver of the truck was pinned inside the cabin by the steering wheel and required tubed oxygen while being removed by emergency medical services.
He was taken to Puerto Morelos hospital along with his passenger.
