Two captured after officer shot during Tulum drug operation

Tulum, Q.R. — Agents of the State Attorney General’s Office have reported the capture of Alejandro “G” and Fredy “D”, two men who shot at police during an operation Tuesday night.

In their statement, they reported that “agents managed to capture Alejandro “G” and Fredy “D” Tuesday night in Tulum with almost 50 doses of drugs. One more injured with a firearm an element of the PDI who is already receiving medical attention and is stable.”

The exchange of gunfire happened during the 7:30 p.m. police operation at a restaurant on the Tulum-Boca Paila road at kilometer 7.5 during a drug dealing operation.

During the operation, one officer was hit in the jaw and transferred to hospital where he is reported to be stable. The two men involved in the drug operation and subsequent shooting of the officer were arrested.
