Tulum, Q,R, — Two restaurant-bars have been shut by Tulum inspectors after they were found serving outside the allotted hours. Due to the continued increase in recorded covid infections, cut off is now 11:00 p.m. as recently set by the state governor.
According to Alfonso Bastos Flores, head of the Federal Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris), the establishments that have been temporarily closed are La Malinche and Shiva. Both were closed after they were found still serving after midnight and with customers inside consuming.
“Between 12:00, 12:30 at night they continued working, in fact, the last establishment that was suspended was suspended at almost 12:30 at night for having people inside consuming,” he said.
Bastos Flores said that “these operations will remain permanently. We will continue to do them and even more tours will be implemented this weekend with the elections,” he said, urging business owners to comply with the current health measures that are in place.
