Two arrested in Cancun for trying to cash fake check

Cancun, Q.R. — Elements of the Quintana Roo Police arrested two people for the crime of falsifying bank documents when trying to cash checks at a bank in Cancun.

In a statement, police report the arrest of 25-year-old Luis N and 33-year-old Luis Geovanny, both from Mexico City. The pair were arrested after officers verified a report on people presenting apocryphal documentation in a bank located on Tulum Avenue.

When police arrived at the bank, bank personnel stated that two subjects entered, one of which was currently at a window trying to cash a 25,000 peso cheque. However, when bank personnel scanned the check, it lacked the legal characteristics, flagging it as a false bank document.

Both men were arrested and made available to the corresponding authorities.
