Two adults struck by vehicle pronounced dead in late night pedestrian accident

Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — Two out of three people hit by a car Thursday night in the southern community of El Ramonal have died. Two adults were pronounced dead at the scene while a child was taken to hospital with only minor injuries.

Both adults were killed Thursday night after they were struck by a vehicle. June 4, 2026.

State Rural Police were sent to the community located approximately 30 kilometers south of Chetumal in response to the accident.

Witnesses reported the incident to authorities around 11:00 p.m. Thursday. At the scene, two adults were found dead. One young child was transferred to hospital for treatment of minor scrapes and bruises.

Police have not confirmed if the deceased adults were the parents of the injured child.

According to available information, all three were hit by the driver of a vehicle while they were walking on the shoulder of the road. Witnesses said the driver veered off the road at the moment he was passing the three pedestrians.

The driver was forced to stop when his vehicle failed to start after the accident. He was taken into custody from the scene but later released.
