Tulum’s Secretary of Public Security resigns for Tamaulipas position

Tulum, Q.R. — Óscar Alberto Aparicio Avendaño, the recently appointed Secretaría de Seguridad Pública and Protección Ciudadana of Tulum, has resigned. His sudden resignation was accepted by Tulum Mayor, Marciano Dzul Caamal on Friday.

In his place, Tulum City Council have announced Rafael Martínez as head of the office until the official appointment of the new secretary is made.

Aparicio Avendaño accepted the position of Secretary of Public Security for Tulum on January 28 of this year. He held the position for seven months before resigning.

He is reportedly leaving Quintana Roo for a similar position in Tamaulipas. Before heading the Tulum police department, he was the head of the National Center for Citizen Attention (CNAC) of the National Guard.
