Tulum youth shot while driving motorcycle dies in Playa del Carmen hospital

Tulum, Q.R. — An 18-year-old male who was shot Wednesday afternoon on his motorcycle has died. The young man was shot while passing through the Tumben Ka’a neighborhood of Tulum shortly before 2:00 p.m. with a female passenger.

Witnesses pointed to subjects in a red vehicle who targeted the young motorcycle driver as he neared the intersection of 5th Avenue and 4th Street North.

He was shot several times and transferred to a Playa del Carmen hospital where he later died. One of the bullets hit him in the head. The young women with him was not injured.

Police have not announced motive, the name of possible suspects or arrests.
