Tulum worker killed near entrance of archaeological zone

Tulum, Q.R. — Police in Tulum were left with the grim task of a deadly shooting that left one man dead. The deceased man was found laying on his back at the entrance of the Tulum archaeological zone Saturday morning.

Elements of the Municipal Police arrived at the site and cordoned off the area awaiting the arrival of investigative police. Reports say the man, who was a local tourist worker, was shot by subjects on a passing motorcycle.

The Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office says they have already opened an investigation into the shooting. “Investigative police conduct interviews and experts collect evidence to identify the likely participants in this crime,” they explained.

The deceased man was not identified. Arrests were not announced.
