Tulum taxi driver with passengers dies after being shot in the back

Tulum, Q.R. — A woman who worked as a taxi driver for the Tiburones del Caribe Union was shot to death Friday evening. The woman was shot through the driver’s side window while inside her car.

According to preliminary information, the woman, who was around 30 years old, was transporting passengers at the time of the shooting. The bullets were fired at her car as she passed through the Aldea Zama residential complex around 6:25 p.m.

Those from inside the taxi said a white car arrived and paired up with the taxi driver before shooting. The female driver was only able to turn around before she was shot in the back.

Her passengers fled the car. Municipal Police officers arrived to cordon off the area and request the presence of the State Attorney General’s Office. No arrests were made.
