Tulum taxi driver executed in targeted attack

Tulum, Q.R. — A Tulum taxi driver was executed Wednesday morning after being intercepted by armed men. Police were notified of the Juan Ek Avenue shooting around 10:00 a.m.

Killed was Tiburcio “O”, a Tulum taxi driver originally from Yucatan.

Area residents, hearing gun shots, called 9-1-1.

According to available information, the driver was intercepted in a nearby subdivision by armed men traveling in a white pickup truck. In a targeted attack they began shooting.

The badly injured driver drove to his home where responding paramedics found him dead. Authorities have not provided a possible motive.
