Tulum taxi catches fire, burns to the ground

Tulum, Q.R. — A taxi that caught fire during the early morning hours has burned to the ground, but not before leaving the driver with several burns.

The taxi was reported in flames along the Tulum-Cobá road at around 2:00 a.m. when firemen arrived to extinguish the fully-engulfed vehicle.

Police, paramedics and firefighters arrived to tend to the scene, including the 35-year-old taxi driver who received several burns. There was no word on what caused the fire, however, the vehicle did burn completely.

The driver has been identified as Deam E.C. He was taken by ambulance to hospital for second degree burn treatment.
