Tulum, Q.R. — Municipal officials were at the Tulum hospital Tuesday morning in response to two shot patients. A man and woman were targets of an attack on private property located in the Tulum Hotel Zone.
The shot man is a private security guard for a private property owner near kilometer 7.5 of the Tulum Hotel Zone. The man and woman, who is reported to be his wife, were at the property when armed men arrived and shot them early Tuesday.
The man was admitted to Tulum hospital in serious condition. He has since been transferred to Playa del Carmen. The woman was treated for less a serious bullet graze and has been released from hospital.
The shooting took place around 5:40 a.m. on a property called Zulum along the coastal highway when two armed men arrived and opened fire. The shooting occurred on land in the hotel zone that is the subject of an ownership dispute.
Law enforcement cordoned off the area of the shooting to allow for the collection of evidence. Police have not announced any arrests.
