Tulum police continue to search for lone gunman caught on city surveillance shooting man

Tulum, Q.R. — A young man was shot and killed in Tulum early Sunday morning with five people being taken in for questioning. The unidentified youth was found laying in the street in the Maya neighborhood of Tulum.

Emergency services responded to the 6:30 a.m. call of the shooting. Witnesses reported seeing a lone subject arrive on a motorcycle. He approached the man and fired before fleeing.

Medical responders pronounced the youth on scene. Police proceeded to detain four men and one woman from the area of Kukulcán Avenue where the shooting took place.

Tulum city surveillance cameras captured the shooting of the man police describe as around 35 years of age. He was seen entering a nearby hotel along the same avenue. While a police search failed to find the man believed responsible for the shooting, they did detain five people.
