Tulum, Q.R. — An early evening highway accident in Tulum has left one dead and one with severe injuries. The accident happened at around 7:00 p.m. when two pedestrians where hit by a private vehicle.
Emergency personnel were at the scene of the deadly hit that happened in front of the Casa Tortuga cenote. According to preliminary information, two pededstrians, both women, were crossing the highway when they were struck by a Nissan truck.
The driver of the truck stopped saying he was unable to see them in time due to a lack of highway lighting. Responding medical personnel confirmed one of the women was dead. The second was transferred to hospital. The driver was detained from the scene.
