Tulum pair jailed for repeated rape of a minor

Tulum, Q.R. — Local authorities have arrested a man and woman for the rape of a minor. Their arrests were made public Tuesday by personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).

Both were picked up on outstanding arrest warrants. According to the FGE, “the detained are identified as Ismael “N” and Cindy Cristel “N”, who allegedly took advantage of their family closeness to the minor victim to commit the crime of rape.

“The court order was served on Prolongación Centauro Street in the Invasión 2 de Octubre neighborhood of Tulum,” they said.

“The first investigations by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Crimes Against Women and Sexual Crimes indicate that Ismael “N” repeatedly raped the victim, which is why Cindy Cristel “N” took her to live with her grandmother in the municipality of Benito Juárez, but some time later returned her to her home in Tulum, where the minor was again assaulted by the suspect,” the FGE reported.

Ismael “N” was admitted to the Municipal Detention Center of Solidaridad, while Cindy Cristel “N” was admitted into the Social Reinsertion Center of Cancun.
