Tulum officially recertified as Quintana Roo Magic Town

Tulum, Q.R. — The town of Tulum has been ratified as a Magic Town in the state of Quintana Roo. The Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marques, presented the certificate to Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo.

The certificate was presented on the last day of the Tianguis Turístico de México 2023 in Mexico City. Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama was on hand for the delivery of the official title of Pueblo Mágico for Tulum.

The Magic Town program was created by the Federal Government in 2001. Tulum, due to its unique characteristics, first qualified in 2015. The certificate presented during the Mexico City tourism fair updates that qualification as a Magic Town.

Tulum is currently one of only three Magic Towns in the state.

Last week, Cozumel Mayor Juanita Alonso Marrufo said she is taking steps for the island to become a recognized Magic Town. If successful, Cozumel would be the fourth in Quintana Roo.
