Tulum, Q.R. — Elements of the Quintana Roo Tulum Police secured a man after he was found carrying two loaded firearms. His arrest was the result of a surveillance and crime prevention operation in the vicinity of the Coba-Tulum highway.
During their tour, police officers noticed a subject carrying what appeared to a firearm on his back. Police proceeded to stop him, however, he ignored their requests and fled, dropping the firearm.
Police began a pursuit that resulted in the man being caught and secured. While conducting a security check of his person, they found a second firearm tucked at his waist. Both firearms, which were loaded, were seized and the man arrested.
Police say in their custody is 27-year-old Benjamín N from Tulum. Benjamin N goes by several aliases. He was transferred to Cancun where he continues to be held for legal proceedings.
