Tulum firemen battle early morning highway bus fire

Tulum, Q.R. — A public transport bus was completely consumed by fire early Monday outside the town of Tulum. Tulum firemen were requested north of the town near a Riviera Maya theme park where the bus was reported in flames.

The driver was transporting staff members after midnight when he saw the bus engine smoking. He was able to get everyone off the bus before the flames took over. The fire happened approximately 18 kilometers (11 miles) north of the town of Tulum along the federal highway.

The company bus was transporting hotel employees at the time of the incident.

Firefighters and Civil Protection from Tulum were at the scene after the 911 call. By the time they arrived, the bus was already completely engulfed by the fire.

Firemen battled flames which left the bus as a metal shell. There were no injuries reported. An official cause of the fire is being looked into.
