Tulum, Q.R. — The driver of a totaled car was lucky to walk away from his vehicle Friday. Motorists traveling south of Tulum came upon the accident scene around 7:00 a.m.
The accident happened on the federal highway near Pino Suárez when the driver lost control and went off the road after colliding with a bus. His old model car crashed into into the side of the large vehicle before coming to rest on the shoulder.
The driver suffered only minor injures that were treated by paramedics. Traffic was reduced to a single lane in each direction due to the scattered debris from the accident.
National Guard Highways were sent to the scene to direct traffic and remove the totaled car. The driver was arrested from the scene for possible intoxication.
