Tulum, Q.R. — A body in an advanced state of decomposition was found Thursday afternoon in a weedy area of Tulum. The body of a man was found laying in the trees by construction workers in Region 15.
Construction workers at a nearby site reported strong odors coming from a path in the bush. When they followed the source of the smell, they found a body lying among the trees.
Emergency 9-1-1 dispatched Municipal Police to the scene where they confirmed the finding. The adult male was reported found fully clothed but without shoes.
His body was found off a footpath in brush near the intersection of 19th Street and Kukulkán Avenue.
The scene around the body was cordoned off while investigative agents collected evidence and began the corresponding investigation. The identification of the deceased has not yet been made.
