Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — Paramedics pronounced a man dead Tuesday after making contact with CFE power lines. The accident happened in the town of Calderitas when the young man was part of a group hired to prune trees.

While swinging his machete, he accidently touched a power line. Emergency services found the man laying on the ground outside a home at the intersection of Tamaulipas and Yucatán Streets.
According to witnesses, he was part of a group of five people tasked with pruning the trees. They reported seeing his machete make contact with a CFE cable while trying to cut a branch that was entangled in the power lines.
An ambulance arrived to provide aid, however, he was found to have already died. Due to the death, officers from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) were called to the scene.
