Tulum, Q.R. — A hostel fire in Tulum has left several tourists without a place to stay as well as a great deal of material damage after the palapa of the hostel they were staying in began to burn.
The fire occurred in the Lakín neighborhood of Tulum on Gama Oriente Street shortly before 4:00 a.m. Flames quickly spread throughout the rest of the building that had four German tourists inside. Firemen were quick on scene, pulling the four to safety.
Indentified in the fire were 22-year-old Stephanie Farle, Daniel Johanni, 27, Simon Kindermann, 28 and and Anna Schoenenbarg, 31, who suffered burns on her feet. All four were treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
The fire also spread and burned a nearby vehicle. There was no word on what caused the fire.
