Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun Hotel Zone Tourist Police were called to the scene of a single vehicle accident where a motorist was found dead. The driver of a motorcycle was found laying near his bike after hitting the central median.
Cancun Tourist Police were at the accident site Sunday afternoon near Kilometer 7 of the hotel zone where they located the deceased male driver. According to initial information, the driver was a local hotel worker.
It is not known how he lost control of his motorcycle before being thrown into the base of a metal city pole. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. He was found not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
A section of busy Kukulcán Boulevard was cordoned off with several police vehicles while the scene was cleared. Traffic was slowed in the area due both to the accident scene and drivers slowing down to look.
