Tulum, Q.R. — Three side-by-side establishments in the Tulum Hotel Zone suffered significant damage after an early morning fire. Tulum firemen were called the scene around 4:30 a.m. arriving to three burning buildings.
Witnesses to the fires at Kilometer 7.5 of the Tulum Hotel Zone called 9-1-1 Wednesday morning. Firemen were on scene for more than an hour putting out stubborn palapa flames.
A total of three businesses reported to be El Gitano, Spicy Hookah and a boutique clothing store were all consumed by the fire.
According an initial report released by the Tulum Fire Department Director, Benjamín Heredia Monforte, “around 4:40 a.m. this Wednesday, through the emergency number 911, a report was received of a fire registered at kilometer 7.5 of the hotel zone of Tulum.”
Additional information was not provided. There were no reports of any injuries. A cause for the fire remains under investigation.
