Three shot to death in targeted Tulum beach attack

Tulum, Q.R. — UPDATED: Three people were killed after a targeted daylight shooting on a Tulum beach Thursday. The shooting was reported during the afternoon hours on Playa Paraíso located within the Tulum National Park.

Two of the men killed were shot in the lounge chair area of the beach when unknown men suddenly arrived and opened fire. One person was shot and killed on Playa Parasio while attempting to flee. He was found laying facedown in the sand.

A second person was also reportedly shot and killed by the same men on a nearby adjoining beach, Playa Esperanza. He too, was found deceased laying in the sand.

When elements of the National Guard and police arrived, they found one injured male sitting in a lounge chair of Playa Parasio. He was stabilized and taken to hospital where he died shortly after being admitted. Those responsible for the killings fled.

UPDATE: The three men shot to death on a Tulum beach Wednesday afternoon are from Belize. Authorities in that country have confirmed all three men were from Corozal, Belize. Two of the men have been identified as Christian F and Rayan A. The third victim has not yet been identified.
